About Us

The Kerr County Water Alliance (KCWA) was formed in July 2023 in response to concerns over the ongoing severe drought and extreme weather conditions.  The Alliance – given limited water resources in the city, county, and state – will focus on developing policies and practices to manage sustainable growth.

Our membership represents the county; as a group of concerned citizens with diverse backgrounds and interests, half live in the City of Kerrville while the other half live in Kerr County.  We have organized ourselves into a working group, that will develop policies, market our ideas, and raise awareness in our community.

Our Challenge

As the county faces increasing drought and a growing population, we must find ways to ensure water resources, both ground and surface water, are protected—for our communities today and the generations to come.

The Mission

Our mission is to raise awareness in Kerr County about the sources, limitations, and quality of regional water resources, and advocate for solutions that promote water conservation.

The Vision

Our group envisions a future in which every county resident recognizes the importance of protecting our water resources, and the waters of Kerr County are managed for long-term sustainability. We hope to achieve this vision via community outreach and evidence-based advocacy.
